Who we are
Connext Work is run by Nicky Gray Consulting Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15895939), at 8 Ashgrove Road, Redland, Bristol, BS6 6LY, United Kingdom. We’re the controller of the personal information described here, which means we decide how it’s used and are responsible for protecting it.

What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address and password (stored scrambled, so no one can read it), and your two-factor and passkey settings.
- Your job search: your CV, if you upload one, and the text we read from it; your job goal; and your conversation with the assistant in Define.
- Your contacts: the people you bring in from your LinkedIn connections file, or from LinkedIn itself if you connect it. That’s their name, job title, company, LinkedIn profile address and when you connected, plus email addresses or phone numbers if your file includes them, and profile pictures from a connected LinkedIn account.
- What you add: how you know each person, the groups you put them in, your notes, your messages and drafts, and what you record in Track.
- LinkedIn, if you connect it (Pro): the identifiers of your LinkedIn account and conversations, your sending settings, the campaign messages you approve, and when people reply.
- Payments (Pro): your Stripe customer reference, subscription status and your card’s type and last four digits. Your full card details are held by Stripe, never by us.
- Technical information: your IP address and browser type while you’re signed in, records of when AI features were used (not what was written), and error logs.
Please don’t add sensitive information, such as anyone’s health, religion, sexuality or political views, to your notes or messages.
The people in your contacts
If you’re here because someone you know uses Connext Work: they may have brought in your name, job title, company and LinkedIn details from their own LinkedIn connections.
- We use those details for one purpose: helping that person decide who to talk to about their job search and keep track of it.
- Only they can see them. We don’t contact you ourselves, sell your details, look you up in other data sources, or combine what different users know about you.
- When we ask AI to suggest who could help, it gets job titles and companies, not names or contact details.
- We rely on legitimate interests for this: helping people use their own network, in ways you’d reasonably expect from someone you’re connected to.
You can object, or ask us what we hold, by emailing support@connext.work.
How we use it, and why
The law says we need a reason (a “lawful basis”) for each use of your information:
| What we do | Why we’re allowed to |
|---|---|
| Run your account and the features you use: importing contacts, your job goal, your shortlist, messages, Track, LinkedIn and campaigns | To provide the service you’ve signed up for (contract) |
| Take payments for Pro and keep financial records | Contract, and our legal duty to keep accounts |
| Send emails about your account: verifying your email, resetting your password, campaign replies and problems, and confirming deletion | Contract |
| Keep Connext Work secure, prevent misuse, apply fair-use limits and fix errors | Our legitimate interests in running a safe, reliable service |
| Understand how the service is used, from overall numbers that don’t identify you, to improve it | Our legitimate interests |
| Analytics cookies on our public pages | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Counting visits to our public pages without cookies, before you’ve chosen or if you reject cookies | Our legitimate interests in understanding how many people visit |
| Tips and news about Connext Work | Your consent, or, if you’re a user, our legitimate interests. Every email has an unsubscribe link. |
Connext Work ranks your contacts automatically, but you decide who to contact and what to send. We don’t make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
AI and Anthropic
Our AI features use Claude, made by Anthropic. Here is what each one sends:
- Define: your first name, the text of your CV if you’ve uploaded one, your job goal and your conversation with the assistant.
- Find: your job goal and, for each contact, only their job title, company and how you’re connected. No names, email addresses or other contact details are sent.
- Message drafts and campaign messages: your first name and job goal, and the contact’s first name, job title and company, the group you chose and what you wrote about how you know them.
Anthropic processes this on our behalf to write the reply. Under its commercial terms, it doesn’t use this information to train its models. We don’t send AI anyone’s surname, email address, phone number or LinkedIn messages.
LinkedIn and Unipile
If you connect LinkedIn on Pro, the connection is made by our partner Unipile:
- You sign in on Unipile’s secure page. We never see your LinkedIn password.
- To keep your account’s location consistent, we pass your IP address to Unipile when you connect. We don’t store it.
- We bring in your connections’ names, job titles, companies, profile addresses and profile pictures, and send the messages and invitations you’ve approved.
- We don’t store the text of messages people send you. We record only that they replied, and when. When you open a conversation in Connext Work, it’s read from LinkedIn at that moment and isn’t saved.
- When you disconnect, or your account is deleted, we ask Unipile to remove the connection.
Outside the UK
Some of these companies store or process information outside the UK, including in the United States. When they do, we rely on safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK–US data bridge or the ICO’s International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
How long we keep it
- While your account is open, we keep your information so the service works. You can delete your CV, contacts, notes and messages yourself at any time.
- When you delete your account in Settings, we end any Pro subscription, disconnect LinkedIn, and permanently delete your account, CV, contacts, photos, notes, messages and history. Copies in our hosting backups are overwritten in the normal backup cycle.
- Uploaded contact files are deleted as soon as they’ve been read.
- LinkedIn notices are deleted once processed, and within a month at most.
- Logs are kept for up to 14 days. Records of AI use (feature, time and cost, never the content) are kept without your details after your account is deleted.
- Payment records are kept by Stripe, and by us where needed, for as long as tax law requires (usually six years).
Keeping it safe
Connext Work uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Your CV text, assistant conversation, notes, relationship details and messages are also encrypted in our database. Your account is protected by your password, with optional two-factor authentication and passkeys. Our administrators can see account, subscription and usage details to support you, but not your CV, contacts, notes or messages.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- get a copy of your information;
- have it corrected if it’s wrong;
- have it deleted;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive it in a format you can take elsewhere;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it.
Email support@connext.work and we’ll reply within a month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, though we’d appreciate the chance to help first.
Connext Work is for people aged 18 and over.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy when the way we use information changes. If a change affects you significantly, we’ll email you before it applies. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
